From an axiology/value theory point of view, how can one say that a diverse society is better than a uniform one, especially given the negative effects of diversity (racism, sectarian conflict, problems arising from extreme cultural relativism)?

Absolutely. Dogs have as much love for humans and animals as they do in relation to their own kind. The generosity with which they show their care, concern and and passion for those they feel attached to shames us humans who are often so very mean and selfish in our personal relationships. I tend to agree with Madam Roland, a celebrity Frenchwoman who lived during the French Revolution at the end of the eighteenth century : “ The more l see of men, the more l like dogs” :
